Dogs for rescue

This page details Salukis which are waiting to be re-homed by the Saluki Welfare Fund.

Often dogs come to us and are matched to their new home very promptly and there is no need to advertise them here. If you are interested in providing a home for one of our dogs do please get in touch with us. We hold a list of people who are waiting for a rescue dog and as we prefer to match a dog to the most suitable home rather than finding a suitable dog for an owner it helps us to have more prospective owners than dogs. This also means that when a dog is rescued we can often get them to their new 'forever' home quickly and avoid it having to spend too much time with foster carers or in kennels before it can settle into its new life.

So, please don't let a lack of dogs on this page put you off, if you are interested in providing a home for one of our dogs, you can check back here from time to time to see if we have any dogs that we haven't got a home organised for, or let us know you are interested and then we'll contact you as soon as someone comes along who we think will match your circumstances.

Below are details of the dogs currently awaiting a new home.

Josie

We don't know much about Josie as she was picked up as a stray by the dog warden and is quite thin.

She is very excited by squeaky toys, therefore, she is probably not suitable to be homed with cats or other small animals.

We are unsure regarding her behaviour around small dogs at this stage.

In kennels she has been a real sweetheart with everyone she has met and has not reacted to the other dogs around her. She has also interacted very nicely with some older children she met recently.

Shelby This sweet natured little girl is approximately 18months old.

She is currently with a foster carer who reports she is clean in the house and gets on well with other dogs.

Shelby can be aloof at times, but has lots of love to give. Shelby would be happiest in a home without cats or small dogs.

Ripley

Ripley Is a neutered male of approximately 4 years.

Ripley, as with most salukis, likes to chase so an ideal home would not include cats or any other small furry creatures.

He appears to be friendly with other dogs but prefers females to males.

He appears to have a calm placid nature and would love to snuggle up on the sofa with you!

Lincoln

Lincoln is a sweet young man of approximately 2-4 years.

He has only been with us a short while and is still very much under assessment. However, first indications have shown that he is a very loving boy towards people.

He is good with other dogs but not cats.

We will update his profile further in due course.
