This page will have details of Salukis which have previously been re-homed by the Saluki Welfare Fund. Re-homed dogs will have a picture and description along with a link to their own page where the owner provides us with additional information.

Mudgie (Majid) Mudgie was one of a litter born to a traveller bitch in Ann Blake’s house on 12 December 2001. We were able to choose him (or rather he chose us) at 6 weeks old and we took him home at 8 weeks.

He has been a delight to own as he is a very gentle boy and very affectionate. He loves to say hello to everybody – we don’t think he has ever read the breed standard! – and he has some very special saluki friends who he greets with great enthusiasm every time they meet.

Mudgie along with his housemate, Tazzie, is free run nearly every day on the New Forest and in his youth did sometimes disappear off over the horizon, but always returned in his own time, as salukis do. As well as free running Mudgie enjoys his lure coursing which he does in typically Mudgie fashion by not necessarily following the lure, by admiring the view, by taking a tour of the field and then by homing in on the lure with a flourish at the end. We love him dearly.
Tazzie (Tazmin) Tazzie came to us at 5 years old in 2009 and had been owned by someone who for personal reasons had to give her up. He had bought her, along with her sister, from a fringe breeder in the north, and coincidentally her birth date was also 12 December but in 2003.

We realised that Tazzie had not been badly treated but it was clear that she had never been socialised properly with either people or other dogs. She was very nervous and withdrawn and had no confidence whatsoever.

In the nearly three years that we have had her Tazzie has very gradually, bit by bit, come out of her shell. She is now a confident little girl (most of the time) and despite her nearly 8 years is the bounciest dog we have ever owned. She is definitely a mummy’s girl and used to follow her mum everywhere, but now with her new-found confidence she is beginning to be a typical saluki and having a good think as to whether she wants to do what is asked of her! She has learnt to play, is beginning to find her voice and can be quite demanding for attention. She has completely captured our hearts.
Mudgie and Tazzie (who's details are above) live together.

Both are owned and adored by Alison and David Crane.

Mally was a sweet natured lad of about 2 yrs of age when he came to us.

His owner had a change of circumstances leading to this lad spending increasing amounts of time alone, which he had not taken kindly to.

He has a very active mind and loves nothing better than to show you his repertoire of tricks.

He had previously lived with children and cats. He loves, and needs, company and so it was great that we were able to home him somewhere with other dogs and children.
